Another update on Matt

So Matt went to the ortho doctor this morning to get the results of his CT Scan on Monday. And things are once again worse than we thought. Come to find out he has fractured the scaphoid bone in several place, not just one. The good news is that even though it is fractured in multiple places it is still anatomically correct. Basically that means that it is still in the right spot and hasn't shifted. Therefore, the doctor said that he wants to leave Matt in the cast for the next 4 weeks and see if it starts to heal on its own and if it stays in the right spot. If after the 4 weeks, it does start to heal and stays where it is suppose to be then he will probably just stay in the cast for about 8 weeks more. If it shifts or is not healing then we'll have to do the surgery route. Matt goes back to the doctor next Thursday for more X-rays to see if the bone is staying put. The doctor has stressed that Matt use his arm as little as possible so that the bone does not shift.

Please pray that the bone stays in the right spot and it begins to heal on its own so he can avoid surgery. The way the doctor talked it would be a pretty extensive surgery and might even have to bring in a hand specialist.
