One Month

First I am sorry for the lack of posting this past week. We had quite a hectic one.

On Tuesday Matt came home from work and noticed Carter felt a little warm. Well we took his temp and it was 100.4. So we called the doctor and the said to take him to the ER. Apparently 100.4 is the magic number for any baby under one month. We took him to the ER and they proceeded to tell us that because he was under one month and he hit 100.4 they needed to do a full work up which included blood work, urinalysis, xrays and spinal tap. It was awful. They said that since he was so young and has a very limited immune system that this was necessary to rule out any major illnesses. The doctor said that 98% of the time it was nothing but that small 2% could be life threatening so it was better to be "safe than sorry". After 2 days in the hospital so they could grow any cultures and give him 48 hrs of antibiotics all his results came back normal. So they concluded it was just a viral infection. Thankfully he is ok but man it was rough watching them put him through so much.

My poor baby with an IV in his head. He still looks pretty happy though, he was a real trooper through all of it.

On a happier note, this weekend my nephew played in his first football game. We lucked out and his team is the Longhorns. Here are a few pics of us all in our gear!

And finally today my sweet Carter turns one month old. It has been a month full of emotions I never knew I had from immense joy to fear to everything in between. My sister said it best when she said the day he is born is the day you realize your heart will forever be outside of your body. So true.

So in honor of Carter's one month birthday I will tell you one thing I love about him.

1. Everything

Dale's been keeping us posted...glad to hear Carter's okay. The couple of times my kids have had to undergo some sort of medical procedure, it's been SO stressful. But he looks happy and healthy (and TOO cute). Can't wait to see him in person!
